Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry strives to promote the integration of the human person with the spiritual person by encouraging the exploration of the spiritual dimension of human life. This program is inclusive of all members of the College community- students, faculty and staff- and welcomes persons of all religious persuasions and none.
As a Catholic College, the celebration of the Mass is one of the main components of this program. It is celebrated Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the Mass. Community members are encouraged to be, and are trained as, Eucharistic ministers, lectors and music ministers, adding greatly to the liturgical celebration.
As a faith community, we are called to promote social justice by putting faith into action. Campus Ministry does this through outreach programs that challenge all members of the campus community to be aware of the needs of our brothers and sisters in the surrounding areas of San Pedro and Los Angeles. Campus Ministry calls forth and empowers students to be Assistant Chaplains, challenging them to put their faith into action. These young women and men are trained and meet weekly to assist with the activities and programs of Campus Ministry. They are encouraged to plan and participate in retreats and attend various young adult conferences held in the local area, as well as prison visitation.
