Celebrities gone bad. We talk about them, watch them, shake our heads
over their shenanigans, but what are the true ramifications of celebrity trials?
How do they affect not only the business of the court but also the business of
the community?
Allan Parachini, Public Information Director of the Los Angeles Superior Court
since May 2002, has been through the celebrity wars and lived to tell the tale.
Before joining the Court, he was a journalist for more than 26 years working
for the Associated Press, United Press International, the Chicago Sun-Times,
Syracuse Herald-Journal, among others. The final 13 years of his journalism
career was spent with the Los Angeles Times.
A consummate professional, he has shared his knowledge with aspiring journalists
by teaching at USC, Northwestern and DePaul Universities and Occidental
College. Allan has also produced documentaries, served on the board
of PEN Center, USA, and covered Woodstock — in a professional capacity.
Join us for what will prove to be an enlightening and entertaining morning.
The Business Breakfast Lecture Series is hosted by former Marymount Board of Trustees member Jim Flanigan, most recently a Los Angeles Times business columnist, and is being underwritten by Marymount Board of Trustees member Burt Arnold ’84 and Ami Arnold of BMA Securities. Marymount College presents this program in partnership with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Flanigan, previously the bureau chief and assistant managing editor at Forbes magazine, is the author of a book on the Southern California economy, to be published by Stanford University Press in 2008. He is also a business columnist for the New York Times. His byline appears twice monthly.
