What Parents Should Know

What you can do

Encourage your student to career plan throughout the college career.

Resist the urge to steer your student toward a major because it fits your interests. Students are likely to be more successful in school and careers if they're doing what they enjoy.

Encourage your student to visit the Marymount’s Career Services Office.

Support internship, co-curricular, and volunteer opportunities. Employers seek well-rounded students in academics and also their knowledge and college experiences. While internships and volunteer positions may not pay well, their long-term value is worthwhile.
