Marymount Names Dr. June Wiley Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty

Following an exhaustive search, Marymount College Palos Verdes President Dr. Michael S. Brophy just announced the appointment of Dr. June Wiley as the College’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, effective July 1, 2007.

Dr. Wiley will be coming to Marymount College following many years of academic service at Ottawa University in Phoenix, where she has served as Dean of Instruction and the university’s chief academic officer since 2004. Ottawa in Phoenix is one of four adult campuses of a liberal arts institution whose residential campus is based in Ottawa, Kan.

At Ottawa, Dr. Wiley has served as chair of the Social/Behavioral Sciences Division, supervised undergraduate and graduate faculty, overseen new program development for prospective majors and coordinated the curricula review process for university-wide majors. In addition, she created a weekend college format and established a number of collaborative initiatives between Ottawa and the Maricopa Community College District.

Dr. Wiley began her career in Ottawa in 1987 as an adjunct faculty member and in 1990 became a full-time Assistant Professor of Human Services. She was Associate Dean of Business and Human Services for four years before her promotion to Dean of Instruction.

A graduate of Marymount College of Fordham University, she earned a master’s degree and doctorate in social work from Arizona State University.

Dr. Brophy said, “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Wiley to Marymount. A graduate of a Marymount institution herself, she well understands our mission and has the experience and expertise to lead the advancement of our academic programs and faculty.”

Leticia Rodriguez – Executive Director of Lifelong Learning

Marymount welcomes Letty Rodriguez, who is responsible for directing our lifelong learning initiatives and providing leadership for our Weekend College, Preschool and Community Education programs.  She brings 17 years of experience in higher education administration, devoted to organizing and managing extended education and continuing education activities. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Professional and Continuing Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. She worked closely with academic departments in the development and delivery of credit and non-credit continuing education and professional education program offerings. Previously, she served as Director of Extension Programs and Community Relations at California State University, Dominguez Hills, where she developed and managed extension credit, certificate programs, and grants. Her administrative experience also includes serving as North Region Representative for the Texas Administrators of Continuing Education Board during her eight-year tenure as Program Director in Continuing and Workforce Education for the Dallas County Community College District.
