Newsletter: Marymount College Sponsors Study Travel to Egypt in January 2008

Marymount College invites the alumni to join students and faculty on a comprehensive tour of Egypt between January 7 and 21, 2008.  During the two-week stay, participants will have an opportunity to view Egypt from many perspectives, gaining insight into the country’s geography, ecology and ancient history, as well as its contemporary culture, religious traditions, art and architecture, and economic and political developments. The tour will be led by Nassef Girgis, Director of Campus Ministry and a native of Egypt, and Natalie Phillips,  a professor of art history at the College.

Highlights of the trip include excursions to Memphis, the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx; a tour of the Egyptian Museum; a cruise up the Nile; a visit to the tomb of Tutankamun and Nefertari; a pilgrimage to Mount Sinai and St. Catherine Monastery; and snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving in the Red Sea.

The tour includes accommodations in five-star hotels and on a five-star cruise ship and guided sightseeing with English-speaking guides in an air-conditioned motor coach.

For more information about the Egyptian tour, please contact Nassef Girgis at (310) 303-7344 or via email: ngirgis@marymountpv.edu .  Deadline for registration in this exciting program is September 15, 2007.
