Theatre Arts 100 – Reader’s Theatre (3) ** (ESL 101 AND 102 students with consent of advisor and instructor.) Selected readings from world drama, prose and poetry. Emphasis on characterization and interpretation under performance and class conditions. UC/IND/CSU area C1

Theatre Arts 110 – Introduction to Theatre (3) *** Exploration of the creative elements of theatre art: playwriting, acting, directing; scenic, lighting, costume design. Analysis of major plays in production. (CAN DRAM 18) (Same as Communication Arts 110) UC/IND/CSU area C1; IGETC area 3

Theatre Arts 120 – Introduction to Acting I (3) ** (ESL 101 AND 102 students with consent of advisor and instructor.) An introduction to the interpretation of drama through the art of the actor. Movement and speech as the basis of role study. This course emphasizes movement and theatre. (CAN DRAM 8) UC/IND/CSU area C1

Theatre Arts 121 – Introduction to Acting II (3) ** A continuation of the principles and techniques of Theatre 120. Emphasis is on voice, television and film. UC/IND/CSU area C1

Theatre Arts 170 – Beginning Play Production I (Technical) (1-3) *** (ESL 101 AND 102 students with consent of advisor and instructor.) (Formerly Theatre Arts 150A) Students support the semester play by becoming a technical crew. It is an eclectic overview of the various aspects of the theatre such as design and scenery construction, lighting, sound, costuming and makeup, theatre management, and publicity. UC/IND/CSU

Theatre Arts 171 – Beginning Play Production II (Technical) (1-3) (Formerly Theatre Arts 150B) Prerequisite: Theatre Arts 170. Students support the semester play by becoming a technical crew. It is an eclectic overview of the various aspects of the theatre such as design and scenery construction, lighting, sound, costuming and makeup, theatre management, and publicity. UC/IND/CSU

Theatre Arts 172 – Advanced Play Production I (Technical) (1-3) *** (Formerly Theatre Arts 152A) Students provide advanced technical support to the semester play by becoming a technical crew. It is an eclectic overview of the various aspects of the theatre such as design and scenery construction, lighting, sound, costuming, make-up, theatre management, and publicity. UC/IND/CSU

Theatre Arts 177 – Advanced Play Production II (Acting/Directing) (1-3)
(Formerly Theatre Arts 153B) Prerequisite: Theatre Arts 176. Students who are
cast in the semester play take this class. It is an advanced overview of the various
aspects of the theatre. Heavy emphasis is on acting, directing and staging. Some

Theatre Arts 200 – History of World Drama (3) Survey course tracing the
development of the drama from the Classical periods to the present. Works of major dramatists will be read and discussed. UC/IND/CSU area C1; IGETC area 3

** Theatre Art 280 – Theatre on the Town (1) *** Introduces the materials and
techniques involved in theatre production through a broad survey of theatre
styles, sources and individual artists allowing for concentrated exploration of
selected theatre production and artists. CSU
