Technology

Beautiful Inside and Out

Beautiful and "smart": New windows, fresh paint and exquisite landscaping make the Marymount College campus beautiful on the outside. The extraordinary technology inside many of the campus’ buildings makes this a smart destination for students who appreciate the cutting-edge. Fifteen classrooms are now officially "smart," with electronic whiteboards, document cameras, DVD/VCR players, ceiling mounted projectors and more. Wireless capability is also now available throughout the campus.
Full Internet Browsing
Marymount College is connected to the Internet via a 4-T1 wired network. This industry-standard data line provides fast web access for research, recreation and constant connection to the world. Marymount provides computers for access to the World Wide Web in our walk-in computer lab in the Oceanside Building and in our library.
Wireless Connections
Beginning in fall 2008, the entire Marymount campus went wireless. You can now connect wirelessly from anywhere on campus by simply using the login information provided to you during orientation.  We currently have 4-T1 lines available for our wireless network.
Email
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 provides e-mail services for our campus, bringing industry-standard compatibility to the College. Once you have signed up for and received a user account, you will be given an e-mail address to use during your two years of study at the College. Your e-mail account will follow the format of username@marymountpv.edu, and it will be accessible from Microsoft Outlook Web Access through Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
Drive Space
After receiving your user account, you will be granted access to Personal Drive Space. Also known as "H-Drive," it is a designated area on a network file server for you to store your personal computer files. This means that students need not carry portable media from location to location, or risk theft or loss of information. Simply save your documents to your "H-Drive," and they will always be accessible from any Windows computer on campus. Also, as it is a network file server, your "H-Drive" is backed up on a nightly basis, providing maximum data protection. To access your "H-Drive," log onto any system on campus, double click the "My Computer" icon and then select your user name.
Classroom Technology
All classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to view and present material. Our larger classrooms contain projection systems that are connected to a podium at the front of the room. The podium houses a computer, laptop connections, DVD/VCR and a document camera for displaying hard copies. Smaller classrooms have large LCD televisions with laptop connectability and a DVD/VCR unit.
Computer Labs
Institutional Technology operates a number of computer labs for students. All students enrolled at Marymount College may use the computers in the Oceanside Building's computer lab. Other labs are available only to students enrolled in specific Marymount classes. However, during variable non-reserved hours, some of these labs are open to the general student population. Labs that follow this practice include the Computer Teaching Lab (AD-111 in the Administration Building) and the Digital Arts Lab (AD-110 in the Administration Building). There are also 17 Dell computer workstations in the library for on-line research.
