Library Computer Usage Policy

  • Students, faculty, and staff log on to Library computers using their individual user and password account. Log on accounts are set up by Institutional Technology.  Currently, the college does not provide computer access to campus guests.

  • Library computers are provided for course related research and study. Research is first priority. All library computers are equipped with Microsoft Outlook for students to access their college email account, student portal, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint.

  • Users may save files or downloaded items from the Internet to their own USB flash drives or to their allocated space on the College's networked hard drive, known as the H drive.

  • For instructions on how to access library resources remotely see Off Campus Access.

  • Patrons should log off before leaving the workstation.  This helps ensure your privacy and frees up the computer for the next person to use.

Printing and Copying

  • The library provides access to two printers and two public copiers for student, faculty and staff use.

  • Wireless printing is also available from student owned laptops.

  • Students will be provided with 400 free prints/copies per semester, which will be accessible from their Student ID card when using the printers or copiers.  A nominal fee will be charged for each page printed / copied over and above that allotment.

  • $0.10 for black & white  /  $0.20 for color

WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS:

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, US Codes) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries are authorized to furnish a photocopy or reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for or uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse or accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright.
