Planning For Transfer
It is important for students to select courses that will meet admission, general education, and pre-major requirements at their potential transfer destination. Marymount College has a strong academic advising program to ensure that students succeed in doing so. In addition, the Freshman Seminar course and Transfer Access Program (T.A.P.) offer further assistance with this objective.
Students are required to meet with their advisors so that they can plan an academic program in preparation for a smooth transition to a four-year college or university. Official articulation agreements and general education worksheets are available to students through their academic advisors and via the Advisement and Transfer Center.
Marymount College encourages and supports strong communication between academic advisors and students. Every student is paired with an advisor, with whom he or she must meet each semester in order to register for classes. Ultimate responsibility for course selection and completion of program, of course, rests with the student.
NOTE: Four-year colleges and universities often make changes in their requirements for majors and general education. The transfer requirements and course equivalences are constantly being updated. Students are encouraged to visit the campuses they are considering for transfer and to discuss current requirements with their academic advisor and the Advisement and Transfer Center staff. The Center also provides a variety of college/career guidance programs and activities to assist students unsure of their major or four-year institution.
