Tutoring

The faculty and peer tutors of the Learning Center evaluate the learning process of each student and prescribe methods to further develop individual skills needed to enhance academic performance. Tutors focus on learning techniques that are subject-appropriate and contribute to the understanding of fundamental concepts. Tutoring is offered to support most of the current curriculum (see each semester’s “Find the Right Tutor” information sheet for a complete list of subjects tutored and tutor schedules). Tutoring is delivered in a variety of formats, including:

•Individualized
•Small group
•Study groups (formation & facilitation)
•Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI)
•Video
•Course or topic review sessions
•Mariner Math Homework Assistance Center

Peer tutoring and a limited number of hours of faculty tutoring is provided at no additional charge for students enrolled in both the traditional and Weekend College programs. Drop-in assistance is available, depending on availability of tutors.
