You Choose Your Area of Interest
During the first two years of your college experience you will build a well-rounded educational foundation that will prepare you for your upper division learning. In your junior year, you will participate in a concentration within one of the following areas of business:
Entrepreneurship – The Entrepreneurship concentration allows the student to see the business enterprise as a center of innovation and agent of change. A student will learn through a case-study approach in a seminar setting, with guest speakers from both successful and struggling organizations. Students have the opportunity to critique one another’s business plans, which will lay the foundation for the development of their own Capstone Project.
Management Science – A Management Science student develops mathematical modeling skills for problem-solving, with a focus on case studies and the use of commercial software to aid in the analysis of a business challenge.
Business Communication – The Business Communication concentration allows the student to gain an understanding of the communication needs within an organization and for its various constituencies. There is a focus on practice, feedback, leadership and respect for cultural context in the development of communication strategy and practices.
The Global Economy – The Global Economy concentration develops an understanding of the global and institutional context in which an organization operates. The student will examine social and economic institutions, the role of government and the identification of regional strengths and challenges.
The Capstone Project
Your senior year will include your Capstone Project and the completion of your coursework in your area of concentration. The Capstone Project is a year-long individual project that a student prepares, and is guided by a faculty mentor, after spending significant time researching a particular subject. The Capstone Project culminates with a presentation and the completion of an e-portfolio.
You Can Expect Academic and Real-World Learning
